Folf.
Frisbee golf. Can someone please tell me the point of this sport/game? My inspiration for this subjects comes on the heels of A) not having a thing to write about (the best my husband could do when I asked him to give me a random topic was "fellowship, talk about trivia night at church," or "about how the home improvement continues." I want to fall asleep just thinking about making these blog topics for tonight. Not that either of those are bad or boring, in their own right. Trivia night was a blast, we came in 6th but I love my team and I frankly couldn't care less about winning. The home improvements are indeed continuing, my husband is in progress on our front entry way with the hardwood flooring. Just not great blog matter.) And B) a news story about a local Folf tournament for charity. Now I'm not bagging on the charity part, you could pick boogers in the name of charity and it'd be all good. But I just don't get Folf in general. Golf is already a snooze fest, it's worse than watching swimming. Watching people go back and forth in the pool or watching old guys whack tiny balls around a ridiculously manicured landscape? Between the two swimming would be a treat (and I'm not hatin' I'm a swimmer, I love it. Don't love watching it per se.) Then again if I'm in need of a decent nap I might pick Golf. Then you throw frisbees into the mix. Frisbees are fun on their own, sure. Especially if a hyper dog or child is on the receiving end. But the novelty of just playing frisbee quickly wears off, for me anyway. It becomes even less enticing when you add the golf element. So what is it about Folf that people love so much? Throw disc, then toss a few more times in hopes to make or go under par? Lots of walking/running around. Know what else I can do walking and running? WALKING AND RUNNING! Why does throwing a disc in between make it such a great time?
I just don't get it. Is it just the novel idea of combining the two most boring sports into one? Is it because it requires no significant athletic talent, ergo anyone can partake?? I'm glad people like it and at the very least, it's something else to get people up and moving around and maybe that is ultimately the point. In the world of gaming, facebooking, and tv show obsessiveness...I suppose we can never have enough random outdoor activities, even Folf...I'm sure.
Oh well. Off to bed!
